FAQs and quick answers

What do I need to have on hand when I request prior approval?

When you request prior approval, we need to know the name of the healthcare service and who it’s for (if you have other members on your policy), the name of your provider, the hospital or facility where it will take place and a breakdown of the estimated costs (you’ll need to get this from your provider).

If you have written cost estimates or any other supporting documents from your specialist, you can provide these too.

The quickest way to request approval is online through the app or My Southern Cross.

If your healthcare service is provided by an Affiliated Provider, you don't need to request prior approval as they organise this with us on your behalf. You can check Healthcare finder to see if your provider is an Affiliated Provider or get in touch with them to confirm.
