Our health insurance plans reflect the various stages, budgets and cover required to keep Kiwis covered, whether it be for major surgical, day-to-day healthcare or just peace of mind.

HealthEssentials

HealthEssentials is a day-to-day health cover plan to help you actively manage your health. You can claim up to $1,650 in value every year.

The plan provides cover for 75% of your costs up to the policy limits for regular healthcare expenses such as the GP, dentist or optometrist.

HealthEssentials can be held on its own or alongside any other health insurance plan.

Wellbeing One

Wellbeing One is a broad surgical plan for peace of mind.

The plan includes cover for cancer care, surgical treatmentand specialist consultations, diagnostic imaging, tests and recovery within 6 months of related eligible surgical treatment, chemotherapy or radiotherapy.

To help reduce your premiums, you can add a $500, $1,000, $2,000 or $4,000 excess to your plan.

You can upgrade the base chemotherapy for cancer benefit available under your plan to one of the Cancer Cover Plus options1 (Chemotherapy 100 and Chemotherapy 300) to increase your cover for chemotherapy for cancer, including increased cover for non-Pharmac approved, Medsafe indicated chemotherapy drugs.

You can tailor your cover by adding modules that include cover for day-to-day healthcare services, vision and dental or a range of natural healthcare services.

Wellbeing Two

Wellbeing Two is a comprehensive surgical plan.

The plan includes cover for cancer care and surgical treatment, with the advantage of cover for specialist consultations, diagnostic imaging and tests at any time.

For those planning a new addition to the family, this plan includes an obstetrics allowance (after 1 year).

To help reduce your premiums, you can add a $500, $1,000, $2,000 or $4,000 excess to your plan.

You can upgrade the base chemotherapy for cancer benefit available under your plan to one of the Cancer Cover Plus options1 (Chemotherapy 100 and Chemotherapy 300) to increase your cover for chemotherapy for cancer, including increased cover for non-Pharmac approved, Medsafe indicated chemotherapy drugs.

You can tailor your cover by adding modules that include cover for day-to-day healthcare services, vision and dental or a range of natural healthcare services.

UltraCare

UltraCare is a premium surgical, healthcare and day-to-day plan for those who want the highest level of cover.

The plan includes cover for cancer care, surgical treatment, along with specialist consultations, diagnostic imaging and tests and day-to-day treatment at any time. Plus, you can choose your own specialist and your qualifying pre-existing conditions will be covered after 3 years of continuous cover (except under Cancer Cover Plus).

For those planning a new addition to the family, this plan includes an obstetrics allowance (after 1 year of continuous cover).

You can upgrade the base chemotherapy for cancer benefit available under your plan to one of the Cancer Cover Plus options1 (Chemotherapy 100 and Chemotherapy 300) to increase your cover for chemotherapy for cancer, including increased cover for non-Pharmac approved, Medsafe indicated chemotherapy drugs.

There is also cover available for day-to-day healthcare, including GP, nurse and chiropractor consultations, prescriptions and hearing tests up to the policy limits. You can choose to upgrade your plan to UltraCare 400 which offers additional vision and dental cover.

KiwiCare is a shared cover plan. Shared cover means you and Southern Cross each pay some of the costs of the healthcare services you receive.

The plan provides a contribution towards cancer care, surgical treatment, specialist consultations, diagnostic imaging, tests and some recovery and support.

To help reduce your premiums, you can add a $500 excess to your plan (KiwiCare Budget).

You can upgrade the base chemotherapy for cancer benefit available under your plan to one of the Cancer Cover Plus options1(Chemotherapy 100 and Chemotherapy 300) to increase your cover for chemotherapy for cancer, including increased cover for non-Pharmac approved, Medsafe indicated chemotherapy drugs.

RegularCare is a shared cover plan. Shared cover means you and Southern Cross each pay some of the costs of the healthcare services you receive.

The plan provides a contribution towards cancer care, surgical treatment, specialist consultations, diagnostic imaging, tests, recovery, support and day-to-day treatment.

To help reduce your premiums, you can add a $500 excess to your plan (RegularCare Budget).

You can upgrade the base chemotherapy for cancer benefit available under your plan to one of the Cancer Cover Plus options1 (Chemotherapy 100 and Chemotherapy 300) to increase your cover for chemotherapy for cancer, including increased cover for non-Pharmac approved, Medsafe indicated chemotherapy drugs.

Cancer Assist is an affordable addition to your health insurance plan (excluding HealthEssentials) and provides you with a one-off payment, over and above your health insurance, should you be diagnosed with a qualifying cancer.

Add Critical Illness

Critical Illness is an affordable addition to your health insurance plan (excluding HealthEssentials) and is designed to provide extra financial support when it's needed most.

You'll receive a lump sum cash payment if you're diagnosed with a critical illness or suffer a trauma such as a heart attack, stroke, qualifying cancer or loss of independent living. At what is undoubtedly a stressful time, you can use your Critical Illness payment to help take care of you and your family, so you can focus on recovery.
