An investment in wellbeing
Medium Business Award | ORIX New Zealand
The Wayfinder Medium Business Award recognises businesses of 101-500 people that demonstrate commitment to the health and wellbeing of its people – using it as a core business strategy and thriving because of it. Embracing a people-first approach, they create a healthier workplace and drive tangible positive change in the lives of their people.

What sets ORIX apart is its genuine commitment to wellbeing; there is no tokenistic demonstration here—the team is incredibly passionate about it. All employees are offered health insurance cover with Southern Cross Health Insurance on a RegularCare plan, plus Income Protection Insurance through another insurer. ORIX provides comprehensive EAP services, which include personal counselling, financial coaching, diet and nutrition advice, and smoking cessation. This commitment ensures employees have access to resources that address their diverse needs, fostering an environment where they can thrive personally and professionally. ORIX emphasises diversity and inclusion through its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Working Group, recognising cultural events such as Matariki and Māori Language Week. Initiatives like ‘Personal Significance Day’ – a day off that allows staff to take time for meaningful personal occasions empower employees to celebrate their identities; enhancing morale and fostering a sense of belonging.
Additionally, ORIX encourages community involvement with two paid volunteer days each year. Activities such as fundraising for Hato Hone St John, donating care packages to Women’s Refuge and the "Craft for a Cause" programme where employees knit blankets for Starship Hospital cultivate a culture of giving back while enhancing job satisfaction.
