We’ve pulled together some of the FAQs we’ve been asked over the years, in case you have any questions as part of the application or recruitment process.
-
How do I apply for a vacancy?
You can search open roles on our vacancies hub. You can apply directly by clicking on the “Apply” button.
-
I can’t remember the password for my account. How do I reset it?
Not a problem! You can reset your password here. Just enter your e-mail address to receive a link to reset your password. Check your spam folder if you did not receive this link or e-mail [email protected] to confirm your details.
-
Why do I need to complete the verification step? What if I don’t have the details required?
To make sure your information is kept safe, we have a verification step when you log in. A code is sent to the mobile number that’s listed on your candidate account.
If you did not enter a mobile number or do not receive the text code, please email [email protected] for help.

How long will it take? When will I hear back about my application?
If you're waiting for a response to a job application, the best way to keep up to date is to log into your account and check the progress of your application. When your application advances to the next step, you will receive an update email, so check your inbox frequently (sometimes these can end up in your spam folder, so it is worth double checking there also).
If your application status has not changed after more than two weeks, please contact us using your account login or [email protected].

I have an interview coming up, what do I need to know?
Congratulations for being selected for an interview! The important pieces of information you'll need for your interview will be provided in your confirmation email. This includes the position description, where and when your interview will take place and what you will need to bring/prepare. At Southern Cross, not all interviews are performed in person. Microsoft Teams can be used to conduct interviews when both parties are unable to be in the same location. This will be clearly stated in the interview confirmation email.
To help you prepare for your interview, read the position description for the role you're applying for and make sure you understand the essential responsibilities. Consider how your past experiences might align with the job requirements and come prepared with some examples to share during the interview. We also recommend that you spend some time exploring our website, getting to know us and understand what we do.

Why do I need to complete a Psychometric Assessment?
Psychometric tests may appear intimidating, but they are simply a standardised process of gathering information about you, the job applicant. The Hiring Leader will let you know once you’ve progressed to this step in the recruitment process and will provide you with information on what to expect. Knowing what to expect can help to reduce your anxiety and set you up for the best possible outcome.
We usually request psychometric assessments to be completed between your first and second interview. An e-mail will be sent to you with all the critical information you'll need to prepare for your psychometric assessment, including any equipment you may need.
While it’s important you try your best, don't worry if you think you could have done a better job; you won't automatically be eliminated from consideration for the role. While a psychometric test cannot be retaken, it is one piece of information that will be evaluated alongside your work history, experience, qualifications, CV, and interview.

Who should I provide as a referee?
We will only contact referees whose contact information you provide; we will not contact previous employers listed on your CV without your permission.
We usually request two references and prefer that they be:
- Your current manager or someone you have worked for in the last three years (direct manager)
- No personal recommendations, friends, or co-workersIf providing referees as specified above is not possible for any reason, please discuss with the Talent Acquisition team.
-

- Credit check
- NZ work eligibility check
- Ministry of Justice check
- Civil checks (if applicable to the role)
