Southern Cross AGM results

Southern Cross Medical Care Society welcomed a new director, among other business, at their Annual General Meeting held in Ellerslie yesterday.

Trustee and Director Carole Durbin retired from the board, making way for the appointment of new Director Julia Raue – who brings with her a with a wealth of experience from the information technology sector.

Chairman Greg Gent praised the contribution Ms Durbin has made to the Society over the past nine years.

“Carole has been a diligent board member and a staunch advocate for healthcare affordability for our members. Her experience and counsel will be missed.”

Other resolutions passed included:

  • Annual Report received by members of the Society
  • Greg Gent re-elected as a Director
  • Elizabeth Hickey appointed to fill the role of Trustee left by Carole Durbin
  • Adopting of Amended Society Rules.

The evening culminated with guest speaker Steffan Crausaz, Chief Executive of Pharmac, discussing the role of Pharmac in keeping access to medication affordable in both the private and public health sectors.

Appointed as a Director of Television New Zealand in 2014, Julia’s strength lies in her more than 25 years of experience in the IT industry. She has held positions in local government, telecommunications, charitable organisations and as Air New Zealand CIO for eight years. She is a member of the NZ Institute of Directors, a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a member of Global Women. Julia has won a number of awards including the 2009 New Zealand CIO of the Year and was a category finalist in the 2013 and 2014 Women of Influence Awards.
