Southern Cross businesses are united by a common brand, a not-for-profit philosophy and the goal of achieving better value healthcare for New Zealanders. Strategic leadership of the organisation is provided by the Chief Executive Officers of the Society, the Trust and the organisation’s Corporate Office.

Terry Moore: CEO Southern Cross Health Trust

Terry was appointed to the role of Trust CEO in mid-2014. He is also CEO of the Trust’s largest subsidiary – Southern Cross Hospitals.  Terry joined Southern Cross in 1998 and has held several senior positions in the organisation including Chief Financial Officer.  Terry is a past President and current executive member of the New Zealand Private Surgical Hospitals Association (NZPSHA). He also sits on the boards of various Southern Cross Hospitals joint ventures.

Rachel Cunningham: CEO – Southern Cross Corporate Office

Rachel took up the CEO - Corporate Office role in mid-2014 after seven years as Southern Cross’s Head of Corporate Affairs and Legal, and six years prior to that as General Counsel.  She leads the Group’s corporate communications, legal and company secretariat functions and supports the organisation’s governance and strategic development processes. She is also a director on various Southern Cross-related boards and with other external organisations.

Peter Tynan: CEO – Southern Cross Health Society

Peter joined the Society in 2004 as head of corporate services, was then Chief Operating Officer for Marketing and Distribution, and has been Chief Executive of the Society since 2008.  Early in his career Peter was a qualified accountant with a major consulting firm. Prior to joining Southern Cross he held senior roles with American Express in the Asia Pacific region. Peter also sits on the board of the Health Funds Association of New Zealand.
