We are changing the way we cover some procedures
From 17 October 2011 cover for the following procedures is only available when they are carried out by a Southern Cross Affiliated Provider:
- Mohs surgery
- intravitreal injections for the treatment of Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD)*
- transurethral resection of prostate (TURP)
- laser resection of prostate
- radical retropubic prostatectomy
- radical retropubic prostatectomy with synchronous node dissection
- perineal prostatectomy
* For intravitreal injections, this applies only if there is an Affiliated Provider within 100km of your home.
How does this affect my choice of provider?
As with any type of treatment, if you require one of the procedures listed above in the future from a non-Affiliated Provider, please contact us to ensure we are still able to provide you with prior approval.
While negotiations are progressing with those who are not yet Affiliated Providers, we will continue to issue prior approvals until we are satisfied that sufficient Affiliated Providers are in place.
What is an Affiliated Provider?
Affiliated Providers include surgeons, specialists and facilities who provide certain procedures at agreed prices, and who streamline the prior approval and claims processes for members.
Current Affiliated Providers can be found here ►.
Why should I use an Affiliated Provider?
The Southern Cross Affiliated Provider programme aims to deliver value for members, by providing access to a range of healthcare services while better managing the impact of healthcare costs on premiums. By seeking referral to an Affiliated Provider, you can help us manage medical costs.
It's easier for you too, because when you use an Affiliated Provider you don't need to send in a claim - your Affiliated Provider will take care of this for you.
