Southern Cross Hospital and Specialist Centre, Palmerston North is a modern, fast-developing private surgical facility, and part of our national network.

Since 1987, our team in the Manawatu has focused on providing quality care in a relaxed and friendly environment. We continue to invest in developing facilities for the benefit of the local community, and our aim is to deliver a high quality, affordable service to the people opting for private care, either with or without insurance.

Our commitment to the region is demonstrated by the recent refurbishment of the hospital’s surgical suite and the development of a Specialist Centre, opened in February 2007. We are confident that these developments will strengthen the range of services available to the community, further helping them to make informed choices about their treatment.

Our specialist services include orthopaedics, gynaecology, Otolaryngology (ENT), urology, plastic surgery, ophthalmology, general surgery, gastrointestinal surgery (including endoscopy) and Oral (Dental) surgery.

Recently we have developed consulting rooms and now have specialists in gynaecology, general surgery, ophthalmology, endoscopy and pain management consulting from the hospital.

As demand for these services grows, we continue to invest in our facilities to ensure that we respond to the needs of specialists and patients in the Manawatu. We are increasingly working to develop our relationship with the public sector, co-operating with MidCentral Health, for example – and offering services not only to those who pay for themselves, but also to ACC funded patients and patients covered by specific public funding arrangements.
