Land purchase settled for Silverdale Hospital

Southern Cross Hospitals, in partnership with a consortium including some local doctors, has settled the land purchase for the development of a private hospital and medical centre at the corner of Hibiscus Coast Highway and Silverdale Parkway.

Resource land use consent was granted last year by the Rodney District Council for the development of the facility.

Southern Cross Hospitals Chief Executive Officer, Terry Moore, says the next steps are to evaluate plans and have discussions with architects.

“At this stage we do not have a date for the expected opening of the centre. However it’s our experience these facilities typically take a couple of years from the planning stage to completion.”

Southern Cross Hospitals is a subsidiary of the charitable Southern Cross Health Trust. Its national network has nine wholly-owned private surgical hospitals – including Southern Cross Hospital North Shore - and interests in eight joint venture facilities.
