Southern Cross Medical Care Society Members elected three Directors and approved three special resolutions to amend the Society’s Rules at their Annual General Meeting yesterday.
Chairman Graeme Hawkins says the changes to the Society’s Rules will enable potential future cost savings by allowing the use of modern communications technology by the Society’s Board for meetings, and in sending information to members electronically. Members also approved a resolution to clarify that the Society could offer insurance benefits other than just payment or reimbursement of treatment costs.
Each of the special resolutions to change the Society’s Rules required a 75% majority to be passed. They were all passed with majorities from 93.4% to 96.0% of votes cast.
Existing Directors Dr Doug Baird, Carole Durbin and Liz Hickey were re-elected to the Board. The percentage of votes cast in favour of each candidate were:
Dr Douglas Baird 91.7% Carole Durbin 85.8% Elizabeth Hickey 79.8% Jane Arnott 26.9%
