Southern Cross has been an active participant in government-led processes designed to enhance protection of consumers of financial products and services.  This involvement has included participating in advisory group discussions and preparation of submissions in response to consultation papers, questions and draft Bills from the Reserve Bank, the Ministry of Economic Development (MED) and the Securities Commission.   

Throughout this extensive consultation process, Southern Cross Medical Care Society and Southern Cross Benefits Limited have worked closely with their respective industry bodies, the Health Funds Association and the Insurance Council of New Zealand.

The following submissions in relation to the Insurance (Prudential Supervision) Bill outline Southern Cross views on matters such as governance, insurance definitions, solvency standards and credit ratings.
